Christmas The Ultimate Deception– Part 2
As was mentioned in the genealogy of Jesus, both the promise of the scepter and the promise of the birthright was realized in Mary. At the right time, God planted the promised seed in her and made Jesus upon His birth the son of God and our “King of Kings and Lord of Lords.” But why didn’t Christ exercise that kind of authority during His ministry? That question will be answered shortly.
We need to first understand who this Mary was.
Isaiah 7:14, Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign; behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. ( meaning God with us )
What was different about Mary? She was not only a physical virgin but a spiritual virgin as well. In other words, she was not like any of us. Sometimes we tend to believe lies, half–truths, and follow the imaginations of our heart. God protected her from the teachings of men and preserved her as an example to others who have had a change of heart and who could also receive the seed of promise.
Matthew gives us the regal (king) line through Mary’s father Heli. That genealogy begins with Abraham, who had the promise of the covenant given by God , promising that Abraham’s children would become as the stars of heaven.
Genesis 22: 17, “ That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven, and as the sand which is upon the seashore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of their enemies; Verse 18, And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou has obeyed My voice.
Joseph didn’t have any part in the birth of Jesus. Only through the law of adoption and being the husband of Mary did he assume the father role after Jesus birth. God had changed Jacob’s name to Israel, (Genesis 35:10) and later bestowed the promise of the birthright to his son Joseph.
1 Chronicles 5: 2, “For Judah prevailed above his brethren and of him came the chief ruler; but the birthright was Joseph’s.
Jesus came the first time, innocent as a lamb to become a perfect sacrifice acceptable to God. He fulfilled prophesy, brought forth fruit of the kingdom and qualified for the scepter.
Genesis 49 : 10, “The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet until Shiloh ( one that would bring peace )come; and unto Him shall the gathering of the people be.
As we showed earlier, Jesus mother Mary was of the tribe of Judah ( king line ) as well as the tribe of Levi ( priest line ). His birth and perfect sacrifice enabled Him to qualify as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. In His first work by dying on the cross, he was able to defeat death and because of the resurrection, go on into an endless life. All of God’s children are under the sentence of death because of not obeying God’s voice as in the garden of Eden, starting with the first Adam.
Romans 5:12, “ Wherefore, as by one man( first Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for all have sinned.
We can trace Mary’s genealogy backward through Seth being the son of Adam and Adam being the son of God. Jesus then became the second Adam replacing the first Adam. Jesus had to be born of flesh in order for Him to qualify to replace the first Adam who was flesh.
Hebrews 2:14, “ Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil.
But why did the religious leaders have Jesus put to death? They were waiting for a leader who would liberate them from bondage and defeat and conquer the Romans with the weapons of war . They didn’t understand the true nature of God. The signs and miracles He did didn’t impress them. They thought that the only way to defeat the Romans was to overthrow them. They were looking for a warrior who would place them in the seat of Caesar.
Jesus disciples eventually understood the purpose of His ministry.
Luke 9: 56, “ For the son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them”.
At this point in time, God’s Passover and the Feast of Weeks (Pentecost ) had not of yet been fulfilled. Jesus would be the sinless sacrifice acceptable to God.
1Corinthians 5:7, “ Purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, as you are leavened. For even Christ our Passover is sacrifice for us.
In the law, the day after the Sabbath was the time of the wave sheaf offering. In that week there were two Sabbaths, the day of the Passover and the weekly Sabbath. Jesus was crucified on the Passover, laid in a tomb and rose from the dead the third day.
Leviticus 23:11, And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it.
Jesus represented the barley harvest and the first of three harvests that the nation of Israel were instructed to keep.
1 Corinthians 15:20, “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept. 21, For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22, For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.
Why did God ordain the waving of the sheaf? The meaning is in God’s harvests. There are three times in the year for harvest, the barley harvest, wheat harvest and grape harvest. Christ was of the first, the barley harvest to be presented after the Passover to His Father.
Jesus said unto her, “ Touch me not; for I have not ascended to my Father; but go to my brethren and say unto them, I ascend unto My Father and your Father; and to My God and to your God.
Jesus presented Himself alive at the same time as the high priest was waving the barley sheaf to be accepted by God in the heavenly court. If the first fruit of the harvest was acceptable to God, then the remaindered of the field would be accepted also.
Romans 6: 5, “ for we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall also be in the likeness of his resurrection
They would be called the Planting of the Lord and qualify as over– comers as Jesus was an over– comer. ( struggle within themselves)
Revelation 3:21, To him that overcomes will I grant to sit on My throne, even as I also overcame and sat down in My Fathers thrown.
The title of this article is “Christmas– The Ultimate Deception“. Why? December 25th is one of the most important of Christian holidays and if Jesus was born in the Autumn, what’s Dec. 25th all about? Almost nowhere is the conception of Mary or the reason for her conception taught. In any natural birth the head is born first. Jesus is putting together a body of believers to be joined to their head (Jesus Christ ). Then He will return to execute judgment upon the earth.
Acts 1:6, When they therefore were come together , they asked of Him saying, “ Lord wilt Thou at this time restore the kingdom of Israel?” 7, And He said unto them, “It is not for you to know the times and the seasons, which the Father had put in His own power. 8, “But you shall receive power that the Holy Spirit shall come upon you:
Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all in one accord in one Place.
The Feast of Weeks or Pentecost was now fulfilled in the 120 disciples. They now had the power, of God’s Holy Spirit, to become over comers. These, joined with others that overcome ,will at some time be joined with the head and become the 2nd work of Christ, that of the birthright, that belongs to Joseph.
The importance of December 25th is not a birth but a conception. While the rest of mankind is focused on Santa, shopping, and all the other merrymaking, it is necessary that those who are submitting to the voice of God to understand the work that Jesus is doing today. He is preparing a body of believers to rule as He will rule and judge as He will judge.
John 10 : 4, And when he putted forth His own sheep, He goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
