“Live For Tomorrow Today”, sang by Bernie Knee
M. Garzillo, G. Garzillo
This song is to help realize that life’s purpose is more than what is occurring in our present life. We should not only set goals for ourselves but also have the conviction to make sure that the goals we set are the right ones. A child starts out in a school system for the purpose of getting an education and becoming worthwhile to the society in which he or she lives. That’s a good goal. Another might take on the responsibilities of starting and raising a family. Another good goal. Notice that these goals are for the purpose of preparing oneself for benefits for the present as well as the benefits that will come later in their lives.
There was a song sung by Peggy Lee in the 50’s called “Is That All There Is” reminiscing about life itself . There are many people today that believe that there is more to life than what we actually see. A scripture we need to focus on is found in John 10:10 “The thief cometh not but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”.
Who is the thief in this scripture? This song calls him the joker. The Bible calls him the god of this world. 2nd Corinthians 4:4. And we were his pawns. Everyone will eventually learn that there are two Christ. A fake Christ and the true Christ. The fake one wants to steal your soul by lies and deception. Who does he kill? Those that listen and believe his subtle lies and deception. Who does he destroy? Those who believe in and put into practice the lies and deception, whether they be families, governments and even churches who don’t know the difference between the true Christ and the fake Christ.
How can we have life and have it more abundantly? Simply by understanding that God’s word (the Bible ) is His instructional manual for those who believe, not because some man told you what to believe but by knowing what the Bible says, that all of mankind are the children of God. Ezekiel 18:4 reads, “ behold, all souls are mine”. God created all of His children and His purpose now is to mold and form them with everlasting qualities. How does He do that?. Malachi 4: 5, “ Behold I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and dreadful day of the Lord”. Verse 5, “And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers”. Notice that there are two fathers mentioned here, the true father and the fake father. The question is, which one do you listen to?
The hope that we can look forward to is what we are told in 2nd Peter 3: 13. “ Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness”. The Word of God contains many promises and blessings for us even today. With the guidance of reading and understanding the word of God, we can keep ourselves out of trouble of our own making and can have life and have it more abundantly.
As a parent, our heavenly Father wants His children to be properly educated in His Word, to be able to make better choices in our lives and become more worthy citizens. He is also preparing and raising His family to have the same goals as those mentioned in the first chapter of this article. It is a joyful time in our lives when we can live for tomorrow today.
