John 3:16

“John 316”, sang by Jack Carroll

The Apostle John, through divine inspiration, has given men and women an uplifting image of hope, hope that has evaded this world age and the order men have given it. There are two important statements in John 3:16 that are not emphasized enough for our understanding. One is the Hebrew word for world , bara ,with it’s meaning of how the earth was created as in Genesis 1:1. The beauty and the natural order of that earth age as described by Father through His prophets is that He will restore His original creation for the children that love Him and He will dwell with them. God loves all of His children but He isn’t happy with this world age and the confusion of men. Our hope and preparation is for the age to come. Isn’t that why, in what is called the Lord’s prayer the statement is made, “Thy Kingdom come”? The other statement that needs clarity is “whomsoever believeth in Him”. But what are we to believe? There are many different ideas pertaining to God by men and women that the subject can be confusing. The son that is mentioned in this verse is Jesus and comes from the Hebrew word yasha and means to deliver, rescue, be free, to be safe and John 1:1 describes Jesus as the Word. Everything that we hold precious pertains to the conception of His mother Mary and the hope and blessings of God’s purpose though Jesus, who was God’s anointed, and will eventually solve all of men’s difficulties in His time schedule. Now that is something to believe in. He, Jesus, refers to Himself as the light of the world. Without light we would stumble in the dark, wouldn’t have color as in a rainbow, nor have any warmth and comfort or growth for our crops. We wouldn’t want to sit on the sidelines, allowing His purpose to pass us by when His word tells us that we could have comfort and peace of mind even in this earth age. 1st John 4:19 tells us, “We love Him because He loved us first”. When? He was and is our Passover, God’s perfect offering. He did for us what we couldn’t do for ourselves, and He is well deserving of our thanks.
